Dementia is the progressive loss of the powers of the brain. A growing section of our society suffers from this disease. New services need to be implemented to improve the support for each individual in the future. In cooperation with Alzheimer Scotland (AlzScot) we created a range of service opportunities for people with Dementia and their carers and families living in Perth and Kinross, Scotland.
In the research phase a workshop with staff and visitors of a Dementia Café offered us the opportunity to talk to people with dementia and their carers to identify and understand their needs much better. Talking to the scottish government we learned about how solutions and services are decided and initiated. This led to the insight that more personalised services need to be developed for both, people with dementia and carers.
At the end of the research phase we organised a workshop where all the information gathered could be developed further to first service concepts and then shared with the project team responsible for the creation and implementation phase.
